Sites that display a custom message?
I'm looking for those sites that, for instance, you could type in "abcd" and it would flash "abcd" and the background would change colors or something. That's just an example, though. Any site where it obnoxiously displays your message. Also, gobarbra.com would work if it didn't show what your message was at the bottom. If you know anything like this, let me know! Thanks.
1 AnswerGoogle8 years agoIs there a real-life benevolent dictator?
Hello! For my term paper this year, I want to investigate whether or not the idea of dictatorship is inherently good or evil. My history teacher suggested that I delve more into Socrates' idea of a benevolent dictator and see if there are any actual benevolent dictators. He also suggested that I see if the divine right of kings results in benevolent dictators because the kings believe their actions will ultimately be judged by God.
I've found a few examples so far on my own, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking any. So if you can think of any benevolent dictators in history (preferably from 1400-1970, as that is the time period my European history class covers) please tell them to me! You don't have to explain their entire ideologies, just name them and I can handle the research from there. Thank you for your help!
1 AnswerPhilosophy9 years agoWhat comic book is this?
My school is putting on a production of Guys and Dolls, and the director has big, lit-up Broadway signs in the set. He was explaining that he wants the signs to change color with the mood, and when the set designer asked why the signs are randomly changing color, the director explained that he wanted it to be like some old comic book where a man dies and is reincarnated as street signs, and can only communicate through changing colors and blinking. He mentioned the name, but I can't remember what it was. Does anyone know what comic book he was talking about? Sorry to be so vague, and I'm only partially sure it was a comic book. I remember it having a very vague name, too, very action-movie sounding. Please help if you can!
1 AnswerComics & Animation9 years agoHelp choosing a suitable font?
Okay, as weird as this may sound, I need help finding a "blues-y" font.
See, I'm writing a story where one of the characters sings Worried Life Blues, and I always try to use font to illustrate a character's voice.
It's a female character, and I imagine her voice to sound like a female Keith Richards, so to speak. Wanda Jackson but with more Janis Joplin.
Of course, these are all semantics. I know how to download fonts, so suggestions can be outside of Word's collection.
Please, if you know any font that could work, tell me the name or leave a link! Thank you!
2 AnswersOther - Visual Arts9 years agoHelp with gas law equation?
OKAY. The formulas we know so far are PV/T, PV=nRT, and P(molar mass)=DRT. One of our homework problems deals with none of these formulas, as far as I can see.
It reads: "A gas sample has a density of 2.54e-10 g/cm3 when the temp is 283K and the pressure is 96.3 kPa. What will the density of the gas be at STP?"
My issue with this is that the only formulas we know that deal with density also deal with GFM (also known as molar mass), and the name of this gas sample is not given!
I'm not asking for anyone to solve it for me. Can someone please just tell me the formula so I know where to start? Thank you so much!
1 AnswerChemistry9 years agoIs it illegal to do this to money?
So I stumbled upon this image on the internet (http://ctrlv.in/58126 - I promise it's an innocent picture) and, though I think it's hilarious, I'm wondering whether or not this dollar would still be accepted. While I know that USA has laws saying it's illegal to deface money, and that these laws aren't strictly enforced, I wonder if this dollar has been so badly defaced that it would be put out of use. Thanks!
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoAre these downloads safe?

I've been having some virus issues, and a top contributer on Yahoo! Answers suggested these two downloads to fix it. The downloads seem a bit fishy to me, though. Would it be a good idea to try it, or should I leave it alone? Thanks!
1 AnswerSecurity10 years agoMailer-Daemon failure notice?
I've been getting a lot of failure notices in my hotmail account saying a bunch of spam e-mails under my account couldn't be sent. Then in my junk folder I got e-mails from "MAILER-DAEMON" saying the same thing. I read up on this Mailer-Daemon online, and apparently it's someone sending spam under my account. But the scary thing is that this spam is being sent to people under my contact list. Is there any way to stop this? Would closing my account help? Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerSecurity10 years agoWhat would you do in this situation?
Okay. I'm kind of freaking out here and need some unbiased advice. Please read:
My best friend moved to England last year. We would talk about once a month, and I was concerned about her friends, although they didn't say anything. She fell into what I would call the punk rock crowd, and all her friends have purple and red dyed hair and have some sort of psychological issue (bipolar disorder, depression, drug abuse, you name it). But I came to visit her over the summer and slept over at her house. While I was there, two of her friends came over. One of them, Jakob, is a Russian orphan adopted by a British family. He brought his computer and showed me some stupid youtube videos. I didn't say anything, since I'm a pretty quiet person and her friends intimidated me. Then my friend and all her friends started talking, and I got up to go to the bathroom. When I jumped off her bed, I landed on a computer. I quickly stepped off of it before I caused any damage and thought nothing of it, since no one else noticed. When it was time for Jakob to leave, he said that someone had broken his computer. Everyone said it wasn't them, and I, not wanting to make any enemies, stayed quiet. When Jakob and the other guy had left, I told my friend it was me, and even though I hadn't done it on purpose, I felt really guilty. She said it was fine and didn't matter.
But now, two months later, I got a facebook email from Jakob saying he found out it was me, that he "knows you can't break a computer from the outside without really trying" (saying I did it on purpose), and that I owe him $300 to repair the screen. He also called me a "self-centered, malicious liar", even though I haven't responded to him and barely said anything during the time I was with him.
My parents think I should just give my friend the money to give to him and get on with it, but I feel that giving him the money would be admitting that I did it on purpose, when I know I didn't. But I don't want to ignore him and let him convince my friend of my ill will, since she's moving back soon.
I don't know. What do you think I should do?
3 AnswersFriends10 years agoWhat is the actual quote?
My friend was telling me about some quote about religion that goes something like (and this is my paraphrasing of her paraphrasing): "If there's a God and he is good, then he will forgive me for not believing in him and accept me anyway. If there's a God and he is bad, then I wouldn't have wanted to worship him in the first place. If there is no God, then I should live life to the fullest." I'm not sure about that last sentence. And it might have been in second person, not first. It was said by some famous old philosopher or English novelist or something. I can't remember. Thanks!
1 AnswerQuotations10 years agoHelp with Euclid's Primes Proof?
I'm studying for math team next year, and we're currently on Euclid's Infinite Primes Proof.
Apparently, one way to do it is by subtraction, but this way makes no sense to me. Here's what my book says:
"There are either finitely or infinitely many primes. Assume that there are only finitely many and multiply all of them together to form a very large integer n = 2x3x5x7x... Now, since n+1 is greater than any of the factors of n it cannot be prime, so one of the factors of n also has to be a factor of n+1. But, if this were so, then (n+1)-n=1 would also have the same factor. This is a contradiction, so we conclude that our assumption of finitely many primes is false".
I understand perfectly, up to the "But, if this were so" sentence. Why would the difference have the same factor? And how is this a contradiction? Please use as much detail as you possibly can.
The way I understand it is that there are infinitely many primes because (n+1)/a prime in n would come up with a remainder of 1, which is not an integer and doesn't work. Is this a valid way to do this proof? I know there are many ways...
Thank you!
3 AnswersMathematics10 years agoIs this a legitimate link? (see details)?
Someone suggested the following site to help with my Sims 2 Error Code 5 problem. I haven't downloaded it yet, because I don't want to infect my computer. Is this a safe website? Or will I end up downloading some sort of virus?
5 AnswersSecurity10 years agoHow much money would this type of lawyer make? (see details)?
My father is a corporate lawyer at an extremely well-known NYC law firm specializing in M&A. He works with big-name energy brands. About how much money would he make annually? I'd ask him myself, but he'd never tell me. And please, I am not looking for a sanctimonious speech about how money isn't everything and my father's payroll doesn't matter.
1 AnswerLaw & Legal10 years agoDo you have to bid on an item from an eBay store?
I want to buy an item from The Kissing Tree Vintage, which sells through an eBay store. The dress is priced at about twenty dollars, and there's a Buy It Now button, but there's also a Time Left thing that says about three days. Does that mean it's something that you have to bid on, or do I just buy it? Thanks!
2 AnswersSmall Business1 decade agoHelp finding a similar dress?
I love this dress on ModCloth but it's sold out and I'm impatient. I've attached the link, but can anyone help me find a similar dress? It can be any color, really, except for an earthy color. I just like the style.
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoWhere can I find a certain SNL episode?
I wanted to show my dad a sketch I saw on an SNL rerun the other day. The episode's pretty old - Season 27, Episode 13, Host: Jonny Moseley. The sketch I want is with Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch, and is about their Sully and Denise characters. They're going skiing on Wachusett Mountain. You can give me a link to the full episode or just the sketch, I don't care. Thanks!
4 AnswersComedy1 decade agoQuestion about Thacher School?
I have been thinking about going to Thacher for high school. Let's just say that, due to 'interesting' conditions, if I got into Thacher, I would have to go, no matter what. Don't ask. So, I'm really thinking it through before I apply. And the only way I would feel comfortable going is if I knew the people were nice. So, what are the kids like? Are they nice or clique-y? In my school, I'm not extremely popular, but I have really close friends, and we are known for not letting drama affect us and just having fun. Would I fit in there? Are the kids nice, or the preppy rider types? Please, tell me the truth. It's really important to me.
And please don't tell me about how hard it is to get in or that I should apply to other schools. I know, and I am.
1 AnswerOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoI may be a geek for asking this, but I don't care.?
So in the solar eclipse episode of Avatar, Ozai keeps talking about "vicious, treasonous things" that Zuko's mother did to get banished. I'm confused by it all. What was going to happen to Zuko? Why? And what did his mother do to get banished? I know it's a little late to be asking this, but please answer if you know.

When Lydia runs away with Mr. Wickham, the whole family starts freaking out when they consider the fact that they might not get married. There are quotes such as "Lydia will be lost forever." I don't understand exactly what they expect will happen to her. Do they expect her to marry the wrong man or is not getting married just some social faux pas? Someone please help me!
