How far can I safely overclock my 1090t?
Just bought a 1090t, running on the new ASRock AM3+ fatal1ty professional board, and using a prolimatech armageddon for cooling. Wondering how far I could safely overclock it?
because why buy an 1100t for another twenty dollars when i can get the extra .2 ghz speed improvement on the 1090t for free?

Whats the stock processor speed? Is it about 3.2 GHz?
With adequate cooling one can overclock to 3.7 GHz at least, that really depends on the individual processor and the temps. Overclock in small degress and use a stress application (like Prime 95) to see if thats stable.

You can go to 4.2 ghz easy, though .2 ghz speed is barely noticable just to let you know LOL. I don't know why some people need to overclock to such extremes, I'm pretty sure a quad core 3.2 ghz 955 can run even Crysis 2 fine..

You can overclock but you can never safely overclock there is always the risk of doing damage. The amount of gain for the risk is not worth it. Unless you are into extreme sports and love the adrenalin rush of wondering when the chips are going to fry. :D

I never really understood the whole overclocking thing... why not just buy something faster in the first place? It sounds like flooring a 4 cylinder car as opposed to going ahead and buying an 8 cylinder. /me shrugs.
