Have you ever felt that getting a slot in residency training is unfair?

I have a friend who wants to apply for a residency training but he was not allowed to even submit his papers/resume because all the slots were full. But then I have a classmate who is a daughter of a well-known doctor and she is accpted right away to think she is seizure prone and had less grades than my friend. do you have similiar experiences to this?

Yes, the system is not perfect. But it can go the other way, too. At the hospital where I practiced two candidates for residency whose fathers were on the faculty were rejected in spite of excellent credentials. I think it was to avoid any suggestion of favoritism.

PS: They are both doing very well elsewhere
