Why not cut Medicare out completely?

Liberals are touting Obamacare as the greatest thing to ever happen to the US health care system. Yet all it really does if force individuals that do not get insurance from their employer to get their own insurance policy. If you are really poor the government may help you pay for the policy. The Paul Ryan plan is what the LIberals are using as "proof" that Republicans want to "destroy Medicare and kill the elderly". However the Ryan plan calls for turning Medicare into a voucher, which would be used to purchase private health insurance. This is basically turning Medicare INTO THE OBAMACARE PLAN. So if Obamacare is so great why shouldn't everyone be on it? Why do we need two different plans? Shouldn't we just allow seniors to also get on the awesome and great Obamacare plan? Or is it that the Obamacare plan sucks too bad?

Because Obamacare is a fraud, and They knew it (Remember Nancy Pelosi "you have to pass it to see what's in it"?)

... in the end this thing, after stealing $500B from medicare, will cost money and 800,000 jobs.

    P.S.

remember the famous "Death Panel" the libs said didn't exist?

"So long death panels. Hello “rationing” board.

An independent panel authorized by President Barack Obama’s health care law to control excessive Medicare cost increases is drawing heavy fire from Republicans. The Independent Payment Advisory Board may not be appointed for another couple of years, and remains in suspended animation to see if the brouhaha dies down. Nearly every health industry lobbying group is pushing for an Obamacare repeal, as are some consumer advocates. GOP lawmakers call it a rationing panel, and at least one has suggested seniors will die from its decisions.

IPAB has the power to force Medicare cuts if costs go up beyond certain levels and Congress fails to act. Although Medicare’s long-term finances are troubled, it’s unclear if short-run costs will rise enough over the next decade to trigger the board’s intervention. If that happens, the law explicitly forbids IPAB from rationing care, shifting costs to retirees or restricting benefits."

The real flaw in your argument is that liberals want the funds from medicare taxes to keep coming in so that they can be raided just like they have raided Social Security. The fact that it is limited is of no consequence to them. If there is no more money because no one will loan more to this country regardless off an increased debt ceiling. They will just default. Won't pay those Medicare claims. Actually they are in the process of denying claims every chance they get.

Get back to me when you find a private insurance company willing to insure someone who is 65 or older with all the commensurate preexisting conditions for $7,000 a year, which is what the voucher would be.

I'm not close to that, without preexisting conditions, and as an individual I currently pay that much for my insurance.

The health care bill is a piece of corporatist trash. Partisan Democrats like it, liberals don't. We wanted either a public option or a single-payer system.

Why don't we just expand Medicare to all citizens and abolish Medicaid? We would save money that way.

Obama's health care plan was supposed to generalize to the elderly as well - the only reason there are two separate systems is because Republicans made that a sticking point.

Is it just me, or is "look what he let us get away with" becoming Republicans' major talking point lately? They pull some crap (e.g. deliberately sabotage the economy, drive up deficits, limit public health care, etc.), then they tell their constituents that their own legislation was Obama's fault.

No. And what would you say to people who were forced to pay into it for 30 and 40 years with the promise their health care needs would be met? Would you refund all their money or expect them to just smile and take the loss? And if you think it's the latter, then you make no sense at all, and it is a blessing you are not in government.
