LOL that someone suggests you are getting a prison tattoo, are you doin' time?

I have 2 black tattoos and they are like 10 years old & still dark

one says "your name" on my butt

Well, it depends entirely on what the source of the ink is...

If it is a prison tattoo, it'll probably turn kind of greenish.

If it is a 'home' tattoo, done by yourself, your friend in the garage, or the 'scratcher' down the street, then it may turn green or blue or just get splotchy.

If you were done by a licensed professional then it will stay in the black/grey tones.

Since there are different 'black' inks, - some 'blacker' than others, than this would make a difference in the density of the black.

If you got your tattoo from someone with a license, but who bought 'cheap' ink, then it will not hold up as well as an experienced and skilled tattoo artist who knows his/her inks and how well they hold up over time.

Also, how you take care of it while it is healing matters. You need to do current and proper care for it to turn out it's best.:

And it matters considerably how you take care of it for life - you must use the highest SPF sunblock each and every time that you expose it to the elements, and reapply often.

And lastly, it makes a difference what your skin color is and what the tone is, because you view the tattoo through a protective layer of skin after it has healed. This effects the look of the tattoo. (like a colored glass over a line of sharpie marker).

So, many variables, and it is up to you to make the best choices for the best results.

    luck~
