A question for the men how did you propose to your girlfriend, and ladies did you propose to your boyfriend?
I believe a lot of ladies propose to their boyfriends just to jeer them on a bit, did any of you ladies have to do the asking?

It was quite romantic, considering that we sat next together in class for a whole year and bickered and fought the entire year..! We went home on a boat from Haifa to Marseilles. There was a blue sea, and a full moon and we were fed up with the idea of having to go back home, so we spent the week together on the boat and one night I said, 'You know, it would be much better for me if I had someone like you around me, what do you think..? I really would like to get married....'
She looked at me steadily for at least a minute and then said, 'That's a really spiffing idea..!'
We got married 4 months later in Cardiff, her home town. Didn't last long though. Only 40 years.

I have been engaged 3 times, and have never married. My first was a childhood sweetheart, both families assumed that we would marry. Second, she spread the news, forgot to inform me. Third time, I attended a large family party. When I asked what the party was for or about, didn't like the answer. 2 sons and 9 grandchildren later and still never married. Never say something you don't really mean. I wonder why they no longer contact me.

The setting wasn't exactly romantic, sitting in my car in the garage. He lived in the west of Scotland and I lived in the east of Scotland and we met in Edinburgh at the weekends. I still lived with my parents but he came to our house to stay for the weekends. He got my bed and I slept on the sofa in the livingroom (my mum was frightened he would break the sofa if he slept on it as he was a big lad).
We had been 'going out' together for 9 months when one evening, after driving back from Edinburgh to my home, I was putting the car in the garage and he asked me if I would like to get engaged. I said yes and we've just celebrated 35 years of marriage.

After my girlfriend and I had been living in sin with each other for over a decade, we happened to be talking one day about how we weren't getting any younger, so I asked if she thought we should get married at some point, and she shrugged and said it was beginning to look as if neither one of us was going to find anyone better. So we decided to give it a try. Very romantic, you see.

Come to think of it, I didn't propose. It was a suggestion and she agreed.
