Boxing: Louis inspired Robinson, Robinson inspired Ali...who did Ali inspire?

I was reading a book about Louis/ Schmeling today and it talked about how Robinson wanted to carry Louis' bags and how when Louis first lost to Schmeling, Louis stopped boxing briefly. Robinson inspired Ali. Who did Ali inspire? Who did that person inspire?

Who did Ali inspire? Everyone. Every boxer from Roy Jones Jr. to Manny, to Floyd to Wladimir Klitscko looks up to Ali the man was named sportsman of the century by Sports Illustrated because for millions of people he symbolized strength, charisma and the ability to overcome anything. He's just one of those guys who'll be ingrained in pop culture forever.

Sir, I believe that it is like this. Louis inspired Robinson, Robinson inspired Ali, Ali inspired Leonard, and Leonard inspired Roy Jones Jr.

    Thanks for the question!

Muhammad Ali inspired a lot of folks and not only fighters with his charisma, his sense of humor and of course his great speed and skill in the ring. He inspired the careers of fighters such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, Roy Jones Jr., Howard Davis, Pernell Whitaker and many, many more and the truth be told, he's still inspiring to this day.

    Robert nailed this one.

And Sugar Ray Leonard and Roy Jones Jr. were especially inspired by Ali as a boxer. Both often tried to imitate his amazing footwork (called "Ali shuffle"). If you watch some fights of Jones jr. or Leonard you might see how they tried to move like Ali did in his prime. Both officially called him their big idol.

I'd say that Ali inspired Ray Leonard who, in turn, inspired Roy Jones Jr.....maybe.

Who did Ali inspire? I think it would be harder to say who did he not inspire because he inspired 95% of all our boxers!
