Hooked up old comp again, says failed to exit hibernation, use keyboard to try again/don't, keyboard shuts off?

Well I said It in the title but now in detail, I have this old computer not too old like 2-3 years old so I decided to hook it up again to test it out, when it starts up it says "Failed to exit hibernation" and has one option to try again one to not, though once started up the keyboard shuts off so I can type yes/no so I cant get it working. I have turned it off and on hoping the keyboard will work, it never does. So is there anyway to get it working? Or will I haft to clean the hard drive so it has no old memory?
