Would you buy a device that could charge your electronics via campfire?

I can make a product that would produce about 30w continuous power from a campfire. It could be used to charge cellphones, radios, laptops, etc. It would probably retail for about $90. Sound like something you or a friend would buy?

    Perhaps.

I would more likely consider a 15W charge for maybe $50, if you can go that small.

I already have a hand cranked charger that I got for $15 and another that uses AA batteries that I use if I am not going to be near electricity.

I would not be interested in a product like that. I would be more inclined to buy a solar panel to charge my devices.

I don't like the idea of having something containing electricity around a fire.

No. Nice idea but there are not a large percentage of people that build campfires, and some can't due to weather conditions or restrictions in their cities or villages.

It sounds far fetched, but I might buy it. I don't really find it necessary for regular camping, because I always have a car charger.

If there were a light and compact way to do it, I'd take it backpacking.

Is there a camping section in Yahoo?
