How to keep a webpage from being indexed with a site map?
I know about robots.txt and <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">
...but i was hoping there was a clean way to specify which pages i don't want to be indexed inside the sitemap.xml file.
Thanks!
2 AnswersGoogle10 years agoTransistor type with lowest forward voltage drop?
I am designing a low voltage solid state circuit, and need a very low forward voltage drop transistor.
Losing 1V when you only have 12V is a significant loss...

7 AnswersEngineering10 years agoProbability of independent OR events?
Ok so i have two independent probabilities:
P(A)=0.01
P(B)=0.01
What is the probability of P(A) or P(B)?
(I know its not P(A) + P(B), and its not P(A) * P(B). )
My gut tells me it should be around 1.5% but i cant seem to remember(or find) the equation...
Thanks!
1 AnswerMathematics10 years agoDo you prefer to purchase from Amazon or directly from a company website?
*Assume price and shipping are the same for both Amazon and the company website.
I am considering adding a "seamless" shopping cart to my website or signing up for Amazon Pro. Product prices range from $10 to $200.
Thanks for the input!
3 AnswersSmall Business10 years agoDoes a company "division" require an ABN?
I have an LLC and want to add a small venture to it, but don't want to have separate taxes, paperwork, etc. So do i need a ABN to direct the small venture to the LLC? Do I have to say "small venture division of _______ LLC"? Are either acceptable?

Im designing a new heating element. Just curious if there is a market for it. Also, what temperature(s) do you usually use?

3 AnswersOther - Electronics10 years agoWould you buy a device that could charge your electronics via campfire?
I can make a product that would produce about 30w continuous power from a campfire. It could be used to charge cellphones, radios, laptops, etc. It would probably retail for about $90. Sound like something you or a friend would buy?
5 AnswersOther - Electronics10 years agoCan I sell a non-OEM product under my brand name?
I have found a very good product that the parent company refuses to sell online. They were also not interested in selling "OEM" to my company.
Can I buy their product, re-brand and warranty it as my own, then retail it without any legal issues? Seems legitimate to me, but sometimes that copyright stuff goes further than ya think.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoIs the casing on a transistor electricaly connected?
A standard BJT has a metal tab on it to connect to a heat sink. Is this electricaly connected to one of the legs? I becomes important very fast when dealing with high voltage...
How about a IGBT? The run higher voltage, does insulated mean it is insulated from the heatsinc?

2 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoCan a spread out array of individual iron atoms be magnetized?
Iron has a relative permeability of about 5000.
If the atoms were now spaced apart (perhaps embedded in a plastic), would the permeability be proportional to the volume ratio of the iron?
25% iron, 75% plastic =5000/4 = 1250?
Said another way; do iron atoms have to form a "grain" to demonstrate magnet properties, or will separated atoms work equally as well?
Thanks!
2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoDo I have to register a non profit organization?
I live in the USA. The organization will be international.
It is web based. There will be zero paid employees.
Can I accept donations to cover the cost of web hosting and advertising without registering the organization with the government?
Thanks!

2 AnswersPrinters1 decade agoWhat is the proper name for a theme park people-counting-device?
It looks like a three pronged egg beater and it counts you as you walk through it.
I frequently use it as an example, but dont know the real name. Any ideas??
6 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoTo freelance or not to freelance?
I have become an new product development contractor in the midst of the united states' current economic environment.(aka couldnt get a real job) (BSME graduate of 2009)
I would like to continue working as an independent contractor, as I have always wanted my own business. Its rough at the moment though. I have no capital to invest, just enough income to pay the bills, and not a single advocate(other than my customers that are getting a good deal).
I have applied to every mechanical engineering opening in the past year that fits my demographics. I have come to find that most if not all of the employers were "fishing" for someone with lots of experience for really cheap.
My question to you is, as the job market picks up, should i keep filling out applications to jobs i dont want, or should I risk it and work to improve my contracting business.
Thanks for your thoughts!
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoHow to use a transistor as an on-off switch?
In my current configuration the transistor varies its collector-emitter resistance between 0.1ohm and 100M. At the resistance values in the middle the transistor gets very hot and dissipates a lot of power.
I need to know how to make the transistor tend to be on or off, spending very little time in between. Would higher gain help? Certain zener configuration maybe?
What are your thoughts? Thanks for your expertise!

4 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoCan a capacitor be used to regulate voltage?
Beyond the normal usage of a capacitor.
Can a capacitor be used in series with a resistor to step down voltage? Much like a resistor and zener voltage regulator.
Electrical diagram:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Resistor . . . . 16v Capacitor . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
It would obviously only be for low current(much like a zener regulator). I know that it should regulate it via breakdown potential, but I am unsure if it will do damage to the capacitor at low current.
What are your thoughts?
