Can u help me to calculate the concentration of H^+ ion in the rain water to be of pH= 3.0?

    pH = -log [H+] , so if pH = 3.0, you know 3.0 = - log [H+].

    Now you want to get rid of the log from the right side of the equation so you can solve for the [H+], which is the concentration of the H+ ions in solution. To make this easier on myself, I divide both sides by -1, so the negative sign is on the side with the numerical value. So equation is now.

    -3.0 = log [H+]

    Apply exponents to get cancel out the log.

    10 ^-3.0 = [H+]

    Put that in your calculator and you should get [H+] = .001 M.
