diarrhea in toddler for a week?

my son just turned two, and has had diarrhea for six days now. i took him to the doctor on day two, and they just said to do the brat diet, and gave a scrip for medicated diaper rash cream. now, after six days, he still has the diarrhea, he still has a terrible diaper rash, and the medicated cream doesn't seem to be helping. he hasn't had a fever or been vomitting at all, and he doesn't seem to be getting dehydrated - he's drinking plenty, and acting like a normal two year old.

but.. this diarrhea just won't let up. what can i do? should we go back to the doctor again, even though it's likely they won't be able to do anything for it?

Update:

-eta

the only things he's been eating/drinking:

gatorade or water, rice, crackers, bread, potatoes (real ones, not fries/tater tots) bananas, applesauce...

very occasionally, like maybe every other day, i'll let him have half a glass of milk if he asks, because he's two, and he was getting to the point where he'd stop drinking all together if i didn't give him milk. this was ok'd by the doctor the first time - he said that that much milk isn't going to hurt anything.

My son had that project after having the flu. I took him to the healthcare expert and he prescribed antibiotics. I had in no way heard of antibiotics getting used to manage diarrhea, so I went and have been given him some yarrow from Nature's Sunshine. It cleared his diarrhea superb up. that's offered in a pill, so I opened the drugs and mixed it with applesauce.

Try the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast. These are foods that will help firm him up, if after a few days of no change definitely seek a doctor he could have an infection.

I would try giving him rice and things that would settle his stomach. Don't give him any milk or dairy products that an make the diarrhea worse. See if that works for a day or two. If not, I would definitely contact your pediatrician again. Hope he feels better soon.

I'd at least call the doctor and see what they recommend. There may be an underlying problem causing the diarrhea.
