Can you damage a puppy's hearing....?
If you use a blowhorn? My puppy barks a lot when she wants attention (which is always) and if you ignore her she will jump up on you. She knows what she is doing is wrong, because if you look at her like you're going to say something she jumps back down. She is almost 7 months old, so she really needs to learn that it's not acceptable to do those things. She doesn't like loud noises, so we have been using a blowhorn (like the kind with compressed air) when she does that. It works, but I was wondering if it does any damage to her hearing? Are her ears more sensitive because they are still developing? Thanks so much!

You are using canned air to control your dog? Dogs ears are incredibly sensitive. The dog needs a leash, a firm command, and a proper correction, not something meant for boats to comunicate over long distances.
It the puppy is "always" barking and jumping on you, I suspect that the puppy isn't getting enough exercise and brain activity.

That is not a good idea at all. You could damage her developing ears. Your ears are hurt by blowhorns and it takes a while to stop. What do you think that would do to a dog with developing ears? You should try other forms of discipline. Even a simple 'no' would be better than that.

You are hurting your dog. Instead, try water. Keep spray bottles or a water pistol within reach, or even just use a cup with 2-3 ounces of water, if you have nonporous flooring. Don't say a word when she barks - just squirt her in the face or dump the water on her head. Dogs hate that, but it is perfectly safe. It only takes a handful of dousings for the dog to stop the bad behavior as soon as it sees you reach for the water.

When your puppy wants attention you ignore her. Turn your back on her; give her a time out.
She doesn't know what she's doing is wrong; dogs are incapable of making moral judgments. What you have taught her is that barking works, because you have responded to her bark by "looking at her like you're going to say something." And responding to her making noise by making your own noise tells her that noise making is acceptable.

i dont no if it will damage her ears but i no a better way to stop her from jumping up on people. First get her on a leash and and have someone walk in the room, then if she jumps pull her away from the person and yell " NO" and walk her out of the room. when she calms down, go in again. or teach her to "leave it." that is what i did with my dog and evcery time he barks i say leave it and he walks away from thing he is barking at. or yell "NO" every time she does and hold up your hand, or you could say STOP. hope this helps!
