What could cause a pulsating buzz in speakers/radio equipment that sounds like morse code?

Sometimes my car stereo speakers will emit a pulsating buzz sound for about six seconds that is rhythmic and almost sounds like a morse code pattern. I also have a scanner radio that I use to listen to police/fire departments and sometimes it will emit the exact same sound. What could cause that kind of interference with radio equipment and speakers?

I don't know if this matters or not, but I live near a military installation that has a lot of communications towers and some kind of radar. Could that do it?

Primary (and secondary) radar signals are very strong and could well be the cause. I worked for a company commissioning mini-computers and someone decided to test a mobile primary radar installation (the company made those too) outside our workshop. The radar was powerful enough to erase the mini-computers' memory which caused us no end of head scratching until we realised what was going on.

Sounds like possible interference from an external source such as a pager transmitter.
