Can anyone help me determine GPA range?

I am trying to find out if there is a way to determine the high and low GPA if I know the average of GPA allowed into a certain program.

Such as.... If 70 people are admitted into a program that requires a 2.75 out of 4.0, and the average GPA was 3.46. I tried and came up with the GPA's ranging from 4.0 down to 2.92 if everything is even. This just does not seem real. Anyone know if I had an error in my math?

There is no way to calculate the range.

Assuming they are as competitive as possible, with more applicants than they could accept, then they probably did not choose anyone in the lower end.

But there could have been 50 applicants with a score of 3.46

    Or 25 with 4.0 and 25 with 2.92

    Or 30 with 4.0 and 20 with 2.65

    Etc...

The more at the higher end, the lower the low end could go...

    Hoping this helps!

I agree with Old Teacher - you don't have enough information to solve it.
