Practicing Dharma is much more important because it forces us to take responsibility for our actions. It is something like taking the responsibility for asking a question might also imply that one is willing to accept responsibility for choosing a best answer.

Gods do not exist to bear the responsibility for our actions, rather prayed to or not.

If you refer to the Dhamma taught by Siddhatha Gotama the Buddha then practicing , there are no prayers in the original Dhamma.

Mr. Shiva, this is hardly has any relation with spiritual practices, what religion one belongs to. The purpose of all religions is to make union with Supreme Lord God, that is the ultimate truth, the root cause of all the causes.

Sanatana Dharma is very very important religion, my ancestors were also from this religion. The word Sanatan means original that means it teaches us how to acquire our initial/original state, that is the absolute form, that spotless, sinless virtual stage of Lord God.

Now I come to the answer of the question under reference. Irrespective to religions, chanting or contemplating the name of Lord God has the highest value, then prayer, then rituals and lastly journey of sacred enshrines of pilgrimage.

The remembrance of God is the highest and most exalted of all.

In the remembrance of God, many are saved.

In the remembrance of God, thirst is quenched.

In the remembrance of God, all things are known.

In the remembrance of God, there is no fear of death.

In the remembrance of God, hopes are fulfilled.

In the remembrance of God, the filth of the mind is removed.

The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, is absorbed into the heart.
