In any punch type drink I've always thought the cheapest liquor you can buy is best. Not that it's the best liquor, but no one can tell what the individual ingredients taste like when you mix them all up like that.
Others may have much different opinions. That's just mine.

Not maybe a popular answer but I find that rum is rum except if you need a Malibu or a Spiced rum. Generally when in doubt I just buy Captain Morgan's or Bacardi.

I usually get Captain Mogran White Rum, It mixes well with everything and isn't to expensive.

Bacardi Silver. Good quality. Don't go crazy buying a high priced rum since its being mixed.
