Taking video from camcorder onto PC?

Hi I have a JVC GR-DX77 EK camcorder, and have stuff recorded onto cassette that I need to get into my PC. Haven't got a clue how to do it, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

does your camcorder have a usb or firewire cable? if so does it have a firewire port? is the right software installed for the camcorder to be recognized. I'm trying to figure out the same problem. I'm thinking or just getting a new digital camera that records onto an SD card :P

According to Google, that particular camera is a MiniDV model - so the suggestion of using a USB cable isn't going to work. You need access to a PC with what's known as a FireWire port (also known as IEEE 1394), a FireWire cable and appropriate software for capturing MiniDV video.

If you feel up to the task, you can fit your PC with a FireWire port from somewhere like Maplin, but a lot of photographic shops and studios offer an all-in-one service where they can convert any source format (e.g. VHS, Beta, Hi8, MiniDV) to DVD for you. That might be the easiest route.
