Republicans & Democrats, what do you believe are the reasons behind Perry's & Bachmann's determination to?
Get rid of agencies such as the E.P.A. & The Department of Labor?
If we eliminate these agencies, who then will be in control when environmental or employment, etc. issues, crises occur in the future?
I have my own opinions, but am very curious to hear others.
Thanks :)
Honestly, I cannot say that I know for sure what they EPA does, but I always believed that when environment crises occurred like oil spills, or when toxins were being spilled into water systems, etc. that they were the agency to inspect these things & then give out their findings, along with fines for improper harm to the environment. I agree that the smaller agencies should be minimalized, but the EPA itself? And Dept. of Labor? Seems too extreme to me & seems like it's a conservative's way of getting away with things they shouldn't.

Liberal will say that Perry and Bachmann hate the middle class and the poor.
Conservatives will say with a certain amount of justification that those are two out of control agencies that have taken far more power and authority than they were ever granted by congress or were ever intended to have, Thay have no oversight nor do they take any responsibility for their actions.

and yes Mathew is right - with these agencies operating "the little guy can just just up and do as their told" by their progressive masters that are so much better educated and smarter (better looking too). If cons had any brains they would just quit complaining and let the progressives run things in the right thinking manner. That way we would all just "get along".

Dear bubbles, NOBODY has said that we want to GET RID of them. But Obama increased their budget by 125%! that is More than Double!
As a result, we now have TWENTY SIX New EPA regulations mostly centered around the Cap And Trade that Congress rejected.
Does that sound like being about Job Creation to you? Or more about Controlling the People's Behavior?
Nasty Pelosi thinks that if you suspended the EPA, we would all be drinking sewage and breathing soot in 24 hours time. That is Freaking CRAZY!.
You GOTTA get away from this business of Government being the only ones who can do it right.

As others have said here, the EPA is totally out of control. Just because it is eliminated, that doesn't mean the REAL responsibilities of protecting the environment go away. When you have a massively infected wound, sometimes you just have to dig everything out and let it grow back from the ground up. As to the Dept. of Labor, it's not as corrupt, but it needs to be seriously realigned as well. It's basically just a waste of taxpayer money.

The EPA is just a giant, unnecessary bureaucracy that wastes alot of money, and hurts business in this country by over-regulating. That is the darling of the Democrat party...whatever we can not get the votes for to sign into law, we will achieve through bureaucracy! All hail big government! As for the labor department, I would eliminate any national agencies and leave that up to the states.

We have an employment crisis right now! What has the Dept of Labor done to resolve it? What CAN it do? Nothing and nothing! It's a useless organization. Get rid of it.

Simple.
Don't look at either of them. Look at who is behind them, money wise.
Who would profit from elimination of the EPA or dept of labor?
There is your answer.
Money.

The EPA is becoming a body of unelected democrats that we the people must answer to.
This is how you replace a democracy where the politicians are answerable to us.
(There are several entire departments at the federal level and many offices that are exact duplicates of state-level departments. They are a total waste of money and can be eliminated along with most fo their supporting legislation.)
Check your statement: "who will be in control of the environment?" How can men control such a thing?

The EPA is skirting the legislative process and is working to create defacto taxes on things like CO2.
The EPA needs to be eliminated and reformed in a manner that limits its power to being within the constitution.

Just for one example, the Food and Drug Administration exists because there used to be roaches in cans of tomato paste. Do we want to go back to that way of doing grocery business?
