Where is best to go in Greece for culture?
I want to go on holiday to Greece soon but I'm not sure of the best place to stay.
I want to see as many of the ancient sites as I can, be near a nice sandy beach and maybe one or two bars but not a crazy bar scene.
What town or area of Greece should I stay in?
Thanks

Athens has nearby beaches and heaps of culture OR take an island like Cyprus or Crete
The alternative is the island of Kerkira aka Corfu

I think you should visit Ancient Olympia. If you hire a guide you'll learn a lot about the culture.
The museum there is great, too. It even features the famous statue of Hermes by Praxiteles.
I find museums in Greece a bit boring, but this is amazing!
Source(s): I visited Ancient Olympia with my class(1st grade of high school) during the last school year. I'm Greek, by the way. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.
