i need a new or newish car, any suggestions?

i wanna get a new car, something quick, stick shift, and less than $25000. i would like brand new or something thats used and is no more than about 3 years old and has less than 30,000 miles. ive looked at vw gti's but im not sure how great they are. what would be a good car for me? please suggest a kind of car, maybe a link to one, or even a particular one. and i live in nj so if your suggestion something used that you know of it has to be local.. oh and i need something reliable.

You can get a brand new Chevy Cruze Eco with a turbo charged engine and a manual trans for $19,500 +tax, etc... & 42 mpg

A one or two yr old Mazdaspeed 3 will out run a Cruze easily, but it also drinks more fuel & you can bet the insurance will be much higher. A one or two yr old Chevy Malibu 2LT or LTZ with a V6 makes 252hp and has paddle shifters on the wheel.

All of these are very reliable. And all in one form or another have made the Consumer Reports recommended list. VW's have a consistent history of not being reliable. Especially the GTI.

I agree with Bill. The new 2011 Kia Optima looks amazing, sporty, and is quick enough with turbo. It has great warranty. But reliability? I don't know. There are some people who have over 100,000 miles on their Kia cars with no problems and then there are people who had nothing but problems. Reading through reviews though, it seems everyone's happy with their 2011 Optima.
