What is your opinion of Dunedin as a place to live?
..for a couple in their late 20s/early 30s, without children? is there enough to do (we are not that interested in sports such as rugby, although we both like outdoor activities)? is it easy to meet people of a similar age?
also how good is it for activities such as yoga/meditation/tai-chi?
thanks in advance!

Bay of Plenty has no idea.
Dunedin is ok. I grew up here, but it wouldn't be my first choice for a place to live in New Zealand.
Dunedin has lots of university students, so many people here are between the ages of 18-25. I lived in Wellington (the capital) and now I find Dunedin very boring. There's not much to do here. The best thing about Dunedin for you, would be that it's very close to Central Otago and Southland where there are lots of outdoor activities. I'm sure there is yoga/meditation/tai-chi in Dunedin, but I have never heard of it. In Wellington you'll find heaps.
Every city in NZ is about the same for rugby, unfortunately, you can't escape it.
I wouldn't recommend Dunedin for you, I believe Wellington would be much better. But if you were to move to Dunedin it wouldn't be terrible..

I agree with W.A.B.Y, I live/study in Dunedin now, this is my third year here and it's ok but because I grew up in Christchurch, I sometimes find it really boring and frustrating.
It's the little things that annoy such as, Dunedin only has one main mall (all three are connected so what's the point?), there's only one late night and that's only until 9pm, there's not much variety in retail stores etc so I always have to wait until I go home to Christchurch to go shopping.
But good things are, it's easy to travel around -- you can find your way pretty quickly without a map, if you live in North Dunedin, North East Valley, then you can save a lot of money on fuel because everything in town is within walking distance.
There are plenty of yoga etc classes and the Bikram (?) one in town is pretty good I hear...I wouldn't know for sure though, I just go to the gym.
Like others said, Dunedin's population majority are University students and the place would be completely dead without us (true story), so you'll fit in but like Waby said...it's probably not the first option for most people.
In saying that, if you want a small, quiet, simple little city/town then Dunedin's perfect.
