Christians, do you know a good way to fast? I know that it commands us to fast and pray in the Bible, but I?

First about the post : It is unhealthy... Yes it CAN be if done wrong, but fasting IS healthy !!!

Now with that out of the way : Why, when and how are important factor's of fasting...

A biblical fast is done for ONE reason, and that is *worship* .. It is considered a *sacrifice* unto God...

It can be done when there is either trouble in your life, in others or coming over the horizon..it is also done to make yourself *available* for Gods word, direction, guidance, etc.... It opens your heart and focuses your mind on God.....

The how : there are many kinds of fast... It depends on what you need, desire and or wanting to accomplish..... I would however suggest a simple fast.... A 3 day, partial.... water, juices, and unleavened bread, such as flour tortillas and maybe a few fruits......

The IMPORTANT thing is to MAKE KNOWN to God the *why* of your fast..... Write out the reasons, the length and what you will be eating.... This is not for God, but for you....

Fasting is between you and God.... It is a private matter.....

Stay in the Word and pray..... that is the purpose......

The Orthodox Church has the most "organization" of fasting guideline. You do not eat a morning meal, and as opposed to eating nothing, you do not eat meat, eggs, dairy, olive oil, or alcohol, and you should be praying during the day. You should also abstain from other unhealthful activities and thoughts.

Orthodox Christians do this type of fast every Wednesday and Friday (except during church feast weeks) as well as a few extended periods of time during the year (the Nativity and Pascha seasons are two). It truly gets you thinking on non-worldly things.

One note; in the Orthodox Church, it is Cannon that the sick, pregnant women, and young children are NOT to fast. Fasting should never be a detriment to your health.

Fasting is just spending time with the Lord. Some will sustain from food.

Shouldn't stop drinking water though.

a quiet place where I can spend hours in prayer & worship.

You don't fast by abstaining from all food. You fast by abstaining from certain foods that did not exist in the Garden of Eden (meat, eggs, cheese, wine, etc). Depending on which church you follow, the fasting calender will be different, but generally the same for the two major fasts.

Here is the fast that you should do

Isaiah 58:4-9, "Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;"

fasting is not just about abstinence from food and drink but also from negative thoughts, words and deeds.

give up something during lent it is for 40 days.

You guys are already seeing things and hearing voices that aren't there. Malnutrition is the last thing you need to have in your life.

One of the most attractive features of Christianity is that unless a Christian is under a cursed of God they can ask God for anything and it shall be given to them!

Matthew 18:19 (Jesus says) "Again, I tell you* (*no bull crap now) that if TWO OF YOU* (*Christians) on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven

God will always answer such prayer, if not right away, then later on! That’s why Christians pray in Church where they hope to have at least 2 good peers praying with them! But they can’t ask anything for the Jews!

Jeremiah 11:14 (God says) "Do not pray for this people* (*Jews) nor offer any plea or petition* (*none whatsoever) for them, because I* (*God) will not listen when they call to me in the time of their distress* (*the NAZI holocaust is a good example).

There is hardly any record of Christians praying for the successful liberation of the Jews during their Holocaust! Most Christians were truly complying with God’s request not to pray for them! 6,000,000 Jews were systematically exterminated, in a few years!

The “sweetest story of Jesus ever told” is that he made the Jews responsible for all the murders in the world, even before any Jew ever existed!

Luke 11:51 (Jesus says) from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah* (*from A to Z) Yes, I tell you* (*no bull crap!), this generation* (*all Jews!) will be held responsible for it all* (*especially for failing to $upport the Clergy!)

Malachi 3:9-10 (God says) YOU ARE UNDER A CURSE - the whole nation of you* (*all Jews) —because you are robbing me* (*God). Bring the whole tithe* (*10% of all income) into the storehouse* (*Treasury), that there may be food* (*$$$) in my house* (*or God/Jesus will starve to death and the Judeo/Christian religion will die!).

Matthew 25:41 (The loving Jesus yells at the Jews that he came to save) Depart from me, YE CURSED* (*!!!), into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

God, Devil, Heaven, Hell don’t exist outside of the Bible/Quran stories! There is hardly any historical or archaeological evidence that any Bible story ever took place or that the main characters ever existed. In all the contributions that the Jews are making to humanity, sh*t happens! They also did more evil than good writing the Bible stories that are taken seriously by the Jewish/Christian/Muslim Clergy to bring so much death, wars, pain and suffering into our world! Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, we do have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for any decent person in our society to do evil it takes RELIGION. Fundamentalist Christians believe that HUMANISM is an anti-Christ doctrine and walk away from any discussion about it.

Hosea 9:14-16 Give them, O LORD - what will you give them? Give them wombs that miscarry* (*most of the politically motivated Preachers today claim that God is pro-life and anti-abortion… not so! There is hardly an evidence of that in any Bible story!) and breasts that are dry* (*God immediately rushes to answer this kind of prayer to hurt children and pregnant women, but not any other prayer on behalf of a sick child! Check King David’s trashed prayer and fasting on behalf of his sick baby son -2Sam12:16-19) "Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I HATED them there* (*God is confessing to Holy Hosea that he hates the Jews, especially their children and pregnant women!). Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them* (*God may love the “John 3:16” world, but never again the Jews, simply for not paying their dues to the Temple Treasury!); all their leaders are rebellious. Ephraim is blighted, their root is withered. They yield no fruit* (*they hardly bring in any money!). Even if they bear children* (*most Christians don’t read the boring Bible stories to know that “GOD” is after money!) I* (*God) will slay their cherished offspring*." (*notice that GOD is ALWAYS killing the children after they are born! This is not ABORTION, but a GOD led holocaust of children that Christians fully support, or they would are torched to ashes for heresy! Spiritually speaking, of course!)

Jeremiah 6:13 - from the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit* (*this comes from one Bible writer who knows ‘em all!).
