Ford escape 2002 shifter cable broke do I need to but a new cable or what can I put in there to fix it?

    Yes, a new cable is needed. And some knowledge on how to replace it also. Shop around, but price it out at the dealer also, you may be surprised, and it will be the right part !!

    If you can connect the broken ends back together, it might work for awhile. Buy some stranded picture hanging wire at the hardware store. It's strong and yet can be wrapped around the broken ends to reattach them. Find the new cable for your make year model at http://www.rockauto.com/

    Of course you need a new cable . Try a auto parts store rather than a dealer
