Christ taught his followers to NOT resist evil-yet Christian Churches preach the opposite-Why?

Matthew 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for

a tooth: 39But I say unto you, That ye RESIST NOT EVIL: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy

right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Before I receive all the "out of context" rants--consider this-In the late 1960's John Lennon said it seemed like the Beatles were more popular than Jesus Christ-this "evil"inflamed the fundamentalists in the Bible belt of America to call for public burnings of all Beatles music--one of those Christian fundamentalists was Mark Chapman--John Lennon's assassin

And this solid information of the dominion would be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the international locations; and then the tip will come. Matthew 24:14. And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on earth. 19 circulate hence and make disciples of human beings of all the international locations, baptizing them interior the call of the daddy and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 coaching them to show screen all the flaws I certainly have commanded YOU. And, look! i'm with YOU all the days till the tip of the equipment of issues.” Matthew 28:18-20 those are instructions for Christians. we must be foot step followers of Jesus to be talked approximately as Christian.

In my opinion, there are 3 types on people that call themselves Christians:

    1. the people who devote themselves to the bible. These people are truly "Christian".

    2. the people who twist the words of the bible in order to justify what they want. These people need to go to hell. I don't care if they believe in Jesus dying for them, I want them to go to hell.

    3. the poor souls who listens to people #2. They don't actually learn from the bible.

People 1 are good people. Christianity needs more people that actually studies from the bible and not their own morals. The bible is a generic code of goodness that everyone, not just Christians, should at least learn from. I actually don't know anyone specific who can be placed here as there are too many people who have done good things for the sake of others. Usually, they don't brag about being Christian.

People 2 are bad people. Any person who messes with a book on how to be a good human being doesn't deserve to be called a believer in said religion. They use parts of the book to get what they want or to get a feeling of righteousness. An example is Mark Chapman.

People 3 are people who like to follow the crowd. They are Christian just because they believe it is cool to be one. They do not study from the bible and spread skewed messages.

Some people believe the bible isn't meant to be interpreted literally. However, I really don't believe you could take Luke 9:52-9:56 in any other manner than: "Jesus chose not to hurt them, but left peacefully after trying to inform them." If you didn't notice, that completely contradicts the entire idea of killing for God.

Many Christian Churches have skewed the message of God in order to match what they want. I bet you have never heard of the Q documents or the book of Eve.

    You're confused dude.

We are to resist evil... ...

What Jesus was saying... we are to resist creating more evil.. by trying to get even..

Two wrongs do not make a right, and in our irritated or angry impatience, we frequently say or do something just as bad or worse as was done to us! Then where are we? Often, our patience does not delay our wrath as God's does.

The obvious meaning of Paul's advice is that we should not take vengeance. In Romans 12:19, Paul repeats this more plainly:

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.

Ephesians 4:27 neither give place to the Devil.

James 4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.

Proverbs 22:3The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

As a Christian, I will worry about how to live my faith.

As an atheist, you are free to do as you please in this regard.

How is it affecting you, other than three days from now when you will be playing the Crusades card and asking why we are so violent?

I'm not sure if you know this, but in this verse it's talking about. If someone does something to you should not retaliate instead pray for your enemy as it says in another verse!

" Ordinarily, you get good people doing good things,

and bad people doing bad things.

To get good people doing bad things, that takes religion."
