Do you think Christ would rather have millions spent on churches, or those millions spent feeding the poor?

Honestly, since Jesus is supposed God, my bet is he'd rather have millions spent on a church. What's God's first commandment? Put me first! Worship me! Give me attention! Like all of my facebook statuses! As God says, he is a vain God, a jealous God. But what do you guys think? Does Jesus actually care about the poor more than himself? Does Mr. Jealous God also?

The Sermon on the Mount would indicate spending on poor people.

However virtually everything else in the gospels and Bible would overwhelmingly go towards building churches.

    So I agree with you.

I think Christ would have us build churches.

I don't like this but I guess its real.

Feeding the poor. I don't remember Jesus being a big fan of church in his day. For those whohe believe the bible what does Jesus do spend time with the church or the poor, diseased, prostitutes, and anyone the church didn't like really. And those who believe he would want the church obvously have not read their bible.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints agree with you. We spend hundreds of millions for the poor and downtrodden starting first with our own, then with disasters everywhere around the world. We are usually the first to arrive. You will see us with the yellow helping hands t-shirts.

How about millions spent on churches to house those who want to worship Him, establish missions foreign and domestic, and develop feeding, counseling, instructional, and other benefits for the world and the community? What about all those jobs that are created building the churches (on the economic side of things)?

I think Jesus wanted the poor in spirit to be fed spiritually and the poor in cash to be fed literally. However, I don't think ever wanted millions of people to build big churches to worship him. He wanted people to follow his example, to love one another, to treat others as they would like to be treated. If everyone did that, the poor would be fed, and the churches would be unnecessary.

I'm sure every cent I sent to Pat Robertson's 700 club was used to feed the poor

Well churches spend a lot of money feeding and helping the poor so...

well seeing as the church is actually the people of the church not the church building I'd say feeding the poor

heard about a church which bought a £300,000 organ a couple of weeks ago, made me feel sick, what a waste!!

Whatever God wants done will be done. Feeding the poor with millions of dollars cannot get one person into heaven. Works getting someone into heaven doesn't please the Lord only faith in Jesus will.

We need meeting houses and temples too. Like Christ said the poor will always be with us. no amount of money will ever solve that problem until the poor decide to help thereselves.
