Is "white guilt" a lot like "original sin"?
White guilt being Anglo Saxons (in the U.S.) feeling bad because their ancestors had slaves or were pro slavery or any number of things that happened a long time ago, despite that the people now had absolutely nothing to do with that.
According to the doctrine of original sin, we're still paying for Adam and Eve's screwup, right? Despite the fact that no one here had anything to do with any talking snake or forbidden fruit.
@Crazy Beautiful
I don’t understand how that answers the question I asked.
@IM PIRATE JESUS LOL, & others
I agree that one shouldn’t feel guilty about the actions or views of their ancestors, but “white guilt” still exists, whether it makes sense or not.
@Constrictor
I used just one example to keep things as short as possible; I tend to be loquacious.
@Born Again BB
White guilt, original sin, or both?
@ Wilde Thang
I'd never thought about that before... That's a great connection, and it's slipped right past me for a long time.

I am trying to figure out what Adam and Eve could have done. That would mean I need punishment for? I didn't have any conversations with any talking snakes or other reptiles. I also can say I never have shared a apple "forbidden or not" with anyone. I had white guilt once. I then realized that we have the equal opportunity employment act that gives a added benefit. The get a entire month dedicated to their history, and they have 2 channels on tv dedicated to them. I also see the highest office in the country is held by a black guy. SCREW GUILT. Reparations? ask a native American how well that really has worked for him.

White guilt isn't exclusively for the slavery. It's also for Hitler and the like.
It's still ridiculous though. I have never done anything of that and don't deserve to be looked down upon. We're all individuals. (Not even my ancestors did, actually, but still)
I think there's nothing wrong with helping those people who have it hard because of the slavery and so on, but I wouldn't do it because I owe them, since I don't owe them anything. I'd do it out of compassion as fellow individuals.

i visit take heed to no undesirable be conscious approximately my #a million ever, Jimi Hendrix, yet "all" he did became take a basic latest Blues shape and combine it with technologies that became "new" interior the day (albeit brilliantly). the place would he have been without the impacts of such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Albert King and Elmore James, rhythm and blues and soul guitarists Curtis Mayfield, Steve Cropper, to boot as via funk and a few modern jazz? And who inspired his "impacts"- Robert Johnson, massive bill Broonzy, etc etc? And who inspired them? i've got self belief it particularly is a Latin asserting- Nihil Sub Sole Novum- which extra or less interprets as "no longer something new under the solar", and on condition that there are in basic terms lots of Musical Notes something is in basic terms a by-manufactured from yet another. So, MQ2, no longer something particularly.

I am white and actually German One side from Germany, One side from the South. I would feel worse for the mass extermination and torchure of the Jews before I felt bad for the Black Slaves. Bottom line is, I didn't do either of them so why should I feel bad for something I didn't do.

I still feel a little mad at the landowners from 300 years ago for driving the Scottish off their lands to make way for sheep.
Is that similar?

I don't have "white guilt" What my ancestors did or did not do does not affect me or anyone else anymore.

Bible does not talk about original sin, it is SIN NATURE... We are born with *sin nature*.... the ability to sin.....
and I am not sure about *white guilt*, I don't and never had it..... What others did or do is on THEM, not me......

no. why should i feel guilty for the actions of people i had nothing to do with? i've got enough of my own **** to feel guilty about. it is a two way street, why do black people call for reparations when their ancestors endured the hardship they had nothing to do with?

"white guilt" is just stupid - but it is probably possible because of the original sin mindset previously established.
