How do you spell Qaddifi?

Now the world and Libyan rebels are bent on kicking him out. Why in 40 years of being in power noone has figured out his name?

    Dennis Miller did a skit on that on SNL in the 80's (the first time we hated the dictator) because the media was filled with spelling variations. "Quadaffy Duck" was a favorite.

    It's called transliteration. Anytime you have languages with different alphabets there will be different ways to translate it. Just like Beijing is also spelled Peking.

    There are about 6 different ways that are correct, Arabic does not translate perfectly into english

    I always thought it was the YA spells it Qaddafi!
