Will the reasons for divorce be publicly available (UK)?
Me and my wife separated in December 2010 because we hadn't been getting on for quite a while. We said at the time we would wait 2 years and get a no blame divorce. She's now told me she's spoken to a solicitor about getting a divorce now, so will be placing the blame on my unreasonable behaviour (I don't yet know what she has said I've done wrong).
I have told her I intend defending the divorce because I'm not prepared to accept the responsibility for our marriage breakdown (we just didn't get on anymore and started annoying each other). I can't really afford to defend the divorce so just wanted to know if I decided to accept her reasons (even if I don't accept them and they are false) will they be on public record. I don't want to accept reasons I don't agree with when I feel we are equally to blame.
We split cash and assets when we separated. We have an agreement for me to pay child maintenance and she owes me some money because she cleaned out our joint account overdraft (which I paid off and closed to stop it happening again).
I don't expect the divorce to include any financial settlement.

UK divorce records in many districts are public records and do include reasons for divorce. I would object as well since 'grounds' divorce can affect the settlement. My guess is that her solicitor told her she could get a better settlement with grounds.

Divorce cases are held in public. At my divorce there was at least 20 other couples sitting in the court and you just waited your turn to go into the witness box.All solicitors want is cash, they are not interested in yours or your wife's future. As long as you keep up your payments to your child it will just be straightforward.Keep a record of all payments. If you are defending the case you will have to get a solicitor and a barrister. Why,I don't know because they do nothing.
