Screen goes black on streaming video full screen. Why?

I noticed that when I try to view a You Tube video in full screen on one of my computers the screen

will not display. I suspect this means a slow video card but that would surprise me. My PC is an

IBM NetVista with a 2.4 gigahertz Pentium 4 and the video card is an ATI Radeon 8500 and I'm operating at 1900 x 1080 on a 24 inch Dell Monitor. ATI Radeon were always pretty fast. Could it be the driver? I did note that the driver date is 8/3/2006 . I had Windows search for Updated Driver

The card is is actually an All in wonder 8500 DV . The driver wizard found a driver

Windows updated the driver but the new driver date was even OLDER 2/21/2006.

My Operating System is Windows XP Service Pack 3. I tried a you tube again and

it still would not display full screen. Ironically, as an All in Wonder and it has not

trouble displaying TV in full screen. Moreover the card has no trouble in full screen when watching

an avi or mp4 or other video file using Media Player Classic or other players. It just does this on

streaming video such as You Tube or Hulu.

Anyone have any great idea why full screen on streaming video is not working?

Update:

This problem is a rascal. It repeats itself in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Whenever we go full screen, it shows

Press Escape to Exit Full screen against a black background then the message fades and it stays black. I downloaded and installed the driver that Brian recommended from included link. We got a

date update to May 3,2006 however the You Tube video still does not display.

Update 2:

The resolution change did not work either. It stays black in 480p 360p and 240p

I also tried reducing screen resolution from 1920 by 1080 to 1280 by 720 and this still does not help.

It is perplexing.

An ATi Radeon 8500 is a video card that came out of the stone ages; it's a very old card and it is VERY slow when it comes to video cards these days.

Also, I wouldn't trust Windows Update to get the most up-to-date video card driver for your video card. Instead, use the official ATi website to get your drivers. Here are the latest drivers for your video card (11/15/2006):

    Upon installing, it should work.

    I hope this helps!

Your video card is not good enough to display videos full screen. Much of your problem really stems from using Win2000, which was never really made for the kind of computing you are doing!

Try selecting a different resolution after you select full screen mode. When you click full screen the resolution changes from 360p to 480p try changing it back to 360p.
