How can fully disable SearchQ on Firefox 3.6.17?
I disabled and uninstalled it from the Tools menu, but the problem didn't go away, and I'm having trouble finding a solution online. I'm not ready to upgrade to v. 4
Also, how can I prevent future add ons like this? Last month was Yontoo.

You may have to go to the control panel to uninstall it or uninstall firefox and start from scratch.
I love my firefox because I have these two great add ons: No Script and WOT (web of trust). No script allows me to pick which scripts (things that run in the web page) I want to run and which ones I don't. WOT allows me to see if a website is trustworthy or full of suspicious scripts.
It may take you a while to recognize which scripts are okay to run, but I haven't had a problem with annoying add ons and sudden installations since I've had No Script and WOT.
