Energy subsidies - bad or good for capitalism?

I personally, against bailouts. Subsidies are bailouts in my book.

Here, over 1/2 billion dollars later and the the company shuts down. Another stimulus lost.

    I will not read the NY Times. But to answer you question Subsidies are NOT capitaiism. Subsidies from the government is taking capital from one sector and placing it in the hands of another.

    There government has always subsidized new industries. We wouldn't have any major cities in the US more than 25 miles from a major coastline if it wasn't for the massive subsidies given to railroads in the US, and later the national highway system built by Eisenhower.

    Bad. Ethanol subsidies have driven up the price of food.
