Alcohol and caffine when pregnant?

I have a coworker who is pregnant. SHe tells me her doctor said it was ok to drink a glass of wine once in a while. And a few sips of beer was ok to. She also drinks massive amounts of caffeine(coffee and soda and such) Never have been pregnant, so Im not sure, but I always thought alcohol was a big no no, and caffeine was to be very restricted, She often says how much the baby kicks and moves after she drinks coffee or soda. That's all she will really drinks, she hates the taste of water. Kinda wonder how the baby sleeps, and if that's why she is sick and miserable all the time.Anyone else ever have a doc say they can do these things?

Your co worker is an idiot. Alcohol is no longer viewed as safe even in small quantities ... And one cup of coffee a day is ok but no more than that.

    Poor baby

Oh it's all crap of course it's ok to have a small glass of wine or the occassional beer! U think of all the people that drink and dont know there pregnant or go back a few years everybody used to drink and smoke We ALL TURNED OUT ALRIGHT. I'm 25 weeks pregnant an on the odd occasion I will have a small glass of wine. Every pregnant person I know had done on the odd one on occasion as well.

Yes, in America, alcohol is a huge no no. I agree that you shouldn't be going out and getting plastered, but even I had a glass of wine when I was about 30 weeks. And caffeine, everything in moderation. I limited myself to 1 soda a day when pregnant. And as frustrating as I know it is, it's not your place to say anything to her about it. It's her choice.

Alcohol is a HUGE nono during pregnancy! My doctor says I can have 2 cans of soda a day, or 1 cup of coffee.

Alcohol can cause MAJOR health problems for the baby. Look up FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME and have her do the same.
