Repairing windows? HELP PLEASE!?

Hi, I have messd up the usb ports on my computer by uninstalling the drivers trying to fix another problem and i now cannot get passed my log in screen because i cannot press ctrl alt delete.

Yes i have tried sp2 keyboard but after the loading screen both keyboards stop working.

So I am trying to repair the OS so hopefully this will fix the problem but have couple of questions.

Will this delete any data or programs from the machine?

Will this even fix my problem?

Do you know what caused the problem in the first place?

Really greatful for any answers because this is a work machine that i have broken and need to fix it before the boss finds out!

Many Thanks in anticipation

Update:

SORRY! and windows xp, if you read what i put then you would see that i cant log on, not even in safe mode! So your idea is out of the window.

Thanks

I assume your OS is Win XP SP2 - If you're just using the repair feature of XP then it wont delete any files outside the Windows folder unless you decided to format your PC.

It will most likely to fix your problems with your USB since XP SP2 includes USB drivers

Just try to boot in safe mode.

Go to device manager (right click my computer and click properties, then to hardware you'll see device manager)

Go to where the USB ports are then update them.

BASED OFF OF WINDOWS XP BECAUSE YOUR TOO LAZY TO PUT WHAT OS YOUR USING.
