You can get alot of fun out of shooters and sports.

(shooter) Halo is a fantastic xbox only game. Halo reach is the most recent. I would suggest this game, but it may or may not be suitable for your son. A lot of kids, his age and younger own this game though. So it can't be that much of a negative influence, if any at all.

(sport) your from the UK. Football is big over there (look who I'm telling right?), so i would suggest FIFA 11. I'm not sure if FIFA 12 is out, but it will be soon, if your willing to wait. FIFA is brilliant, just about every league and every player is incorporated into the game. LOTS of fun, specially with friends.

Car racing? Forza 3 is good. It's been used on the second series of Ultimate gamer. IGN (a well known Gaming source) gave this game a 9.4 out of 10. It really is fantastic. In IGN's words "Amazing"

There is a racing game called "blur" that is very cheap now, and iss actually a very good game for its price, so I would recommend that.

Does he like more cartoon themed racers? if so, Sonic and Sega All Stars racing is brilliant, and again cheap. I have this game and it has such a great online community too, it is also entertaining and brilliant to look at.

FPS I would recommend Halo, as it is not against race in any way, it is simply more of a space themed Call of Duty, ideal for younger fans of the genre, as it lacks a lot of the gore and bad language that other FPS have.

I think you should get him assassin's creed 2, it is 18 as it has got fighting in it, and blood but you can turn the blood off so that should not be a problem, i only recommend the second one though as the brotherhood one has a lot more 18 rating to it. Rockband 3 is good also :)
