Ditch Witch won't start; any ideas why?

I rented a Ditch Witch for the weekend and I turned it off to move some rocks and roots. When I tried to start it again, it wouldn't start -- the cooling fan comes on but it won't crank at all. I tried calling the rental yard, but they're closed until Tuesday because of the holiday weekend. I REALLY need to get this going again!

Update:

It's a gas engine mini skid loader.

Well, since it's Tuesday already, this may not help but...

If the fan comes on it means you're getting power, but for some reason that power isn't getting to the starter (so the engine won't turn over/crank). It's possible that either the ignition switch or starter have gone bad, but not likely. If it were the starter, you should at least hear a click when you turn the key. The most likely cause, especially for this type of equipment (rough use/vibration) is a loose connection. Look for the starter; if you don't know what the starter looks like, look for a thick wire (usually red) and follow it, it should lead to the starter. Once you locate the starter, look for any loose wires or connectors that look like they may be missing wires. If you find the disconnected wire and connector, simply reconnect them. Note: pay attention to how tight the connection is when you put them back together -- if it seems loose, you should take it apart again and crimp (squeeze) the female end a bit so it will fit more snugly.

If that doesn't work, I guess you'll just have to wait for the yard to check it out.
