Why do Christians use "faith" as there response for everything?

Well i posted something on here a couple of days ago and it was saying how its impossible to have a god and afterlife and everything like that. Well a lot of them said "well we have faith its real!" um im srry but "faith" does not prove thats its real, it just means that you are gullible to believe in it. I just dont get why they always use "faith" as there response to everything.

I was just curious

For theists, "faith" is kind of like being a little kid and believing in the Easter Bunny. You never saw him in real life and never had any real evidence for his existence, but your parents and elementary level books said he was real, and on that particular Sunday every year there would be treats scattered about which you assumed were from the Easter Bunny. Theists want to believe that if they adhere to a certain lifestyle and do certain tasks while alive, they will earn favor from a creator who will bless them with candy of a sorts in the afterlife. There is no way to prove or disprove the existence of supernatural beings such as gods or angels using any physical methods, which leads to the insistence that the only way to be in touch with God is to have faith that he exists.

It's no different to believing that you are going to move from America to New Zealand, before you actually get there. You make plans in America to get yourself to New Zealand. You have no doubts that you are going to New Zealand. Within the next month or so, you do all the necessary work that you need to do to get yourself there. Whether you are conscious of faith or not, faith is at work in you but its not until you actually get to New Zealand that the faith you had, becomes a fact.

the fact is, you are in New Zealand. You made it.

Of course, the plane might crash in the Pacific Ocean but you won't know that unless you get on the plane and it crashes. The faith that you had was faulty. You are not in New Zealand.

The most commonly used arguments put forth by apologists almost always amounts to a cop-out of some kind. The "faith" argument just happens to be one of the more shameless ones.

Not that there's anything wrong with faith intrinsically - only when it's used in place of logic does it become ridiculous.

    Hah!

"It's impossible to have a God an afterlife and everything like that"?

Lol, we're gullible to believe in it?

And what does it make you?

You who believes that you are some kind of authority on what is and isn't possible in this universe?

Because christians believe in god and have faith in him. As it says in the bible. Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead three days later. How can you assume something is not real if you haven't even looked into it or researched it? And do you have proof that says there is no God? Theres proof in the bible. It has truth on life and how to deal with things and get closer to God. Thats my proof. And watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJNgTUhTJvg

Illusion is that which appears, seems real, but then disappears like a mirage but Truth (reality) is that which is and has been always. Self is a delusion that mixes and dilutes Truth (reality) with illusion. Time is a word we use to describe illusion and its nature while Life is Truth and is always. Life is already Eternal but it is the deluded mind that mixes Life and time and then lives by the philosophy of "lifetime". We have been given time in order to make a decision of which we want more Truth which brings us the nature of the Truth or more illusion which brings us the nature of illusion. Death is the result of the nature of illusion. We must reap what we sow. God simply doesn't want us to wait til we die but to realize the Truth now and humble the time created and therefore illusory self identity for the sake of the Truth which is the imagless Spirit of Life our loving Father whom Jesus came to introduce us to and to teach us how to humble the self.

Because they haven't got any evidence.

    Peace.

edit for "NCWJ:" rainbows are real. I have lots of evidence to show that.

You're not trying to explain "rainbows to blind people," you're trying to convince people that imaginary things for which there is no evidence of any kind exist just because you believe in them and want them to.

Same with "Sarah:" America and New Zealand can be shown to exist by evidence, you don't need "faith" in them.

We are too wicked to ever be accepted by a Holy God. Only the blood of Jesus Christ and our FAITH in him makes us righteous in God's eyes.

Source(s): For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. James 2:23

It is impossible for you post such a blantantly unsupported statement as:

"its impossible to have a god and afterlife and everything like that" based upon fact....so it is YOUR belief you are trying to sell

We are trying to explain rainbows to the blind.

you don't know half of what you think you know.

Because they use their faith to make themselves believe in something that has no evidence. I feel the same way as you
