did you know that jewish slaves probably did not build the pyramids?

and there is no archaeological evidence of the events in the book of exodus

"The archaeological evidence of the largely indigenous origins of Israel is "overwhelming," and leaves "no room for an Exodus from Egypt or a 40-year pilgrimage through the Sinai wilderness."[21] For this reason, most archaeologists have abandoned the archaeological investigation of Moses and the Exodus as "a fruitless pursuit."[21] A century of research by archaeologists and Egyptologists has found no evidence which can be directly related to the Exodus narrative of an Egyptian captivity and the escape and travels through the wilderness"

I think archaeologists have known for many years that the Hebrews didn't build the pyramids (they couldn't properly be called -Jewish- yet). For one thing the pyramids were built over a very long period. For another, there is no record of a mass exodus of slaves from Egypt, and the Egyptians were meticulous records-keepers.

Just a few years ago I read about how they'd found many workers' quarters near one of the big monuments, and they decided the workers were skilled artisans who were fairly paid.

The Exodus story is a very cool story with a lot of insights into human nature. It reads like an epic novel. It would make a great movie, a big high-budget blockbuster with lots of special effects! But it very likely didn't happen, or if it did, it happened in a very different way.

The Bible never said that the Hebrews did build the pyramids. As well, there is some evidence that the Hebrews were in Egypt. It is found in several areas:

    1. The religious changes under Akenaten

    2. The vast amount of semitic names found between the 15th and 12th dynasty

    3. The Story of the Two Sons and Yuya

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuya

    4. The Ipuwer Papyrus

Your quote refers strictly to archaeological evidence of Hebrews in the Sinai peninsula. Since they were not permitted to build homes or cities, but lived in tents, during what amounts to a very very brief time in history (40 years), there would not be much evidence of their time.

No, the Jews never built the pyramids, but there is evidence that the Jews were in Egypt.

No, the Bible never says that the Jews built the pyramids, and yes, the Bible says they were slaves in Egypt.

So there you have it. Archaeology agrees with the Bible, it just doesn't agree with you.

(What the Bible does say is that the slaves built the Hyksos city of Pi Ramses, a city that was also called Djanet by the Egyptians, Tanis in the Bible and Ramses when it was rebuilt again by the Egyptians several hundred years later. Mass graves have been found in the area dating to the correct period of Moses' birth, entry of Semites into the delta can be proven, and a mass exodus from the delta is very well documented, but the Egyptians naturally claim it was a defeat of the Hyksos, not a mass exodus of slaves from the Hyksos.)

You may be correct. Remember it was the movie "The Ten Commandments" that portrayed the Jews as the slaves building them.

One of the facts is that the Jews were used to make mud bricks, which were NOT used in the pyramids. But they were material used for the common construction of the rest of Egyptian housing.

Try some recent research on what archaeologists on what is called Egypt's dark age. I saw an article and I seen it discussed on one of the History Channel's programs on Egypt. There is a blank period that the kingdom went through.

There were other races, including Jewish people, who were expected to work as slaves for the pharaohs of ancient Egypt.

What do most archaeologists know except when they find a site with remains of ancient civilizations?

Don't forget that most of the ancient remnants have been completely destroyed either by natural disasters, time duration, warfare and human error. Some things from the past will never be explained.

    A. Since the construction of the pyramids predated Abraham by about 2,000 years, it is hardly likely that his descendants had anything to do with them.

    B. There is more archaeological evidence for the lengthy sojourn of the "Habiru" than there is of any other "guest" residents in any other civilization of antiquity.

    C. Nowhere in Scripture does it state that when the Hebrews were enslaved by the "Pharaoh who knew not Joseph", ie, Ahmose I, they built anything except "treasure cities".

If you won't bother reading the Bible at least have the good sense to read Egyptology texts.

Um, not "probably" -- pretty much "certainly."

Not only is there no evidence of any Hebrew slaves/captivity in Egypt, but there are extensive records of how much food was given to the builders (Egyptian builders), archeological remains of their housing, etc. etc. etc. They weren't slaves at all, and weren't Hebrews -- they were Egyptians hired to do the work.

    Peace.

Not that Jewish slaves didn't, but I've read that the number of slaves used was a lot less than previously thought. Interesting article, though.

Here's a quick (and funny) article on the same type of topic.

Hold on, I'm thinking. God's word or mans? God's word or mans? Wait! Wait! I'm thinking. MMmmm.

And I bet there was no Holocaust either right?

Yes, but there still were a lot of Jewish slaves in egypt.
