And now as one of my favorite people used to say, "Now the rest of the story"

Not to mention the real answer.

In 1977, George Lucas had all 6 movies planned out but he had a problem. His dream for Ep 1-3 was a lot bigger then Ep 4-6, and he realized it would be easier to build 4-6 in 1977 then 1-3.

He put off 1-3 untill technology evolved enough to tell the story How he wanted it

IV, V and VI were actually I, II and III when they were released in the 70's/80's. Numbers I, II, and III were made later as prequels.

at the start of the unique Anakin became based on the guy decrease than the mask. with out all the scars. that's the guy you spot on the top of ROTJ whilst Luke sees the three. next. the reason he made 4-6 first became that he had lots bigger plans for a million-3 however the technologies he had to make a million-3 wasnt there on the time to make what he had planned. In 1983 he wrote scripts for a million-3 and that that they had a great form of variations: the conflict between Obi-wan and Anakin happens on the beggining of the action picture over an invaluable crystal, fairly of on the top . just to call one so which you will possibly answer your question, it became technologies for the style of action picture that made 4-6 come first.

Because Lucas only intended to make one movie at first. Once it proved wildly successful, Lucas decided to sell his cinematic soul and turn it into a trilogy.

To allow room for prequels if Lucas ever decided to make them.
