Just kind of curious as to whether it's even possible to find cheap absinthe locally.

save your time and money: Absinthe is foul even when it's "the good stuff", and the cheap garbage shouldn't even be used to strip paint.. It does not make you hallucinate. It does not make you cool and mysterious. It makes you very drunk by virtue of it's 60% abv, and pretty much tastes like licorice and poison. About the only thing it's good for is mixing with rye to make a sazerac.
