I agree that the best course of action is to throw a bed bug infested mattress in the trash. However, some people are not wealthy and cannot afford to replace a mattress. Personally? I would rather sleep on a cheap blow-up mattress than a luxury mattress with bed bugs, but everyone is different. Some people do not want to part with their mattress, even if it is infested.

I don't think it has anything to do with being a citizen of the U.S. It has to do with individual priorities.

Hopefully, the exterminator knows the proper way of ridding your place of them. I've heard that ultra high or ultra cold temps are pretty much all that works. I.e. steaming or freezing, but that too is something a pro must do, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not a bug expert and hope I never have this problem but this is what I've been reading and hearing on the news. You might want to do a Google search about it and see what you can find. Even if you don't see the grown bugs, there's always the possibility of their larvae being around somewhere where you can't see them. I know that's gross, but such be the case. Good luck.

First you must remember that overheating may not remove the bed bugs, since bed bugs has high resistant to heat and most often they hide inside the mattress, bed frame and so on. Bed bugs like warm places to lay eggs. If you overheat the room the heat may not affect the bed bugs that are inside mattress and so on. So, first vacuum your mattress, sanitize every inch of bed frame and spray rubbing alcohol into every crack in the frame.
