Yes, I saw the movie and hated it. I am from the South and my mother was raised by a black maid, who to this day is still living in Mississippi at 94 years old. My mother and her sister are both deceased. I felt that the storyline was decieving and the beginning extremely boring and slow. I, myself, being born and raised in the South and knowing the attitudes of the 50's and 60's South was never exposed to the cruel treatment by my Grandmother or her family to her "maid." Which, by the way, went on trips and Vacations with the family every year. This film brought back memories for me of the ugly part of the South during the Civil Rights Movement. The oppression of Blacks and the Jim Crow laws. Never did we have a special bathroom for OUR maid to use. This is ridiculous. The food and the wardrobe along with the heavy Southern accents were real along with the staging. I again, was very disappointed in the movie. My daughter n law who is African American, went with me and I almost had to leave the theatre I was so upset for her to experience such a negative film.

I saw it three weeks ago & I really loved it. I bought the book after seeing the movie, & as I read it, I can picture each character. When the movie comes out on DVD, I will be buying it. It's a movie that I could watch over & over again.

I'm actually reading the book now....and then I'll go see the movie.
If the movie is half as good as the book is so far it's a terrific movie.

I liked it. But I will probably never eat chocolate pie again.
I saw it free online. Either at veetle.com or crackle.com I can't remember which one. I also saw the Ape movie a couple of weeks ago online.

Not yet but I'm going to. I've talked to several people who've seen it and they say it's wonderful. I want to read the book, too.
