Knee surgery and joining the military?
I am a 20 year old female athlete, currently in rehab for my knee. I want to join the army after I graduate college (about a year and a half to two years), but don't know if this will dq me. I had reconstruction surgery on my MCL and have a tack or two in my knee. I will cont. playing soccer and other sports and be back in great shape by the time i want to join.
I figure I will need a waiver, along with all the records on my knee, but will I still be able to join?

@JD: She said she wants to join the Army.
You will only get an answer on this from a recruiter... they are the only ones who would be able to give you a definitive answer.

Ouch, knee surgery will probably disqualify you from joining the military, considering how much you rely on your legs and the fact that the services are bringing in more recruits than they need, you are competing against potential soldiers who will not have such a black mark. However, the best thing you can do is to have as much paperwork on your knee as possible, highlighting the positives of your rehabilitation, finish collage, then receive advice from a few recruiters from each of the branches on the best way to join. However, the collage will probably be your best selling point, so you should focus on graduating.

As long as it is fully rehabbed and you have 100% range of motion and stability
Its really not an issue.
You just have to bring all your surgical and rehab records to be reviewed and they will most likely send you to a specialist to be evaluated.
