primus and windows 7 and the wireless connection from hell?

suddenly my computer decided it was not connected to the internet.

primus told me to change my d-link (ok, yeah, it was old).

so i did.

everything works fine, the network is set up, i have very pretty strong green lights on the connection but the network & sharing centre keeps saying i can not connected to the internet.

i have to go broadband to get it. called d-link, they say it's primus. called primus, they say it's d-link.

i think it's neither, but that somehow something got reconfigured on my computer. any assistance would be appreciated. thanks.

Update:

thanks to both; yes, boot/reboot about ten times...

i get the d-link page, yup. was told to go in and configure manually, and when i do that it asks for a WAN ip address. i have a LAN one, but not a WAN one. it's 0.0.0.0. i think this is the problem but i have no idea to to do.

Have you tried unplugging both your modem and router from power for 30 seconds and plugging them back in? That helps a lot of the time.

Well if you think it could be your computer, there is a couple of easy ways to check.

    1) If you are connected, but not connected to the internet, you should be able to access the router's settings.

Access on your web browser, enter "192.168.0.1" in the address bar.

If anything shows up, even a dialog box asking for a password. Then your computer is fine. If nothing shows up, your computer is the problem.

    2) Another way to check if it's your computer is try another computer, you can ask a friend who owns a laptop to try plugging it in. If it works for them, then your computer is the problem.

    Good luck!
