semi permanent hair dye scare?
I bought Loreal casting crème gloss in Black cherry. I have used dyes like Directions and Stargazers in the past but not a proper dye like this. I have read all the horror stories and it makes me panic and feel nervous in case I get a reaction. You can smell it the minute you open the box and even though I haven't opened the products, I feel a bit light headed and itchy. I don't know whether I'm so paranoid I'm gonna react I feel like this or if I have had a reaction. When I have done tests in the past (the elbow one) I got minor headaches (I usually have a headache normally) and light headiness and slight itch. Am I just paranoid or is this a reaction?

No you're NOT. Your gut feeling is trying to 'warn' you of something and usually your gut feeling is RIGHT ON.
When I was dyeing & perming my hair, I never did any research, never did a patch test, never even thought I would have allergies. How wrong I was!
I started having frequent migraines, my 1st one lasted 14 hours. I had them so often, but never even thought it would be from chemicals.
My youngest son had also frequent bloody noses. Mom had frequent bloody noses for 75 years, and she too abuses chemicals with frequent perming but never dyed her hair. She was diagnosed of Paget Cancer by age 89. Doctors couldn't figure out why her frequent bloody noses could lead to that! My sister, had double mastectomy by age 35. Her eyebrow hair after plucking them @ age 17 that lack of eyebrow re-growth would be a sign she has breasts cancer. I am worried that my youngest son, now 30 in Nov. would have an effect just because I abused chemicals in my younger years.
Like I said, I didn't think I had allergies. But again, when I switched from a male doctor to a female doctor, the first thing she asked me: "when was the last time you had a tetanus shot?" I said: "I don't think I've ever had one!" So, she gave me a tet shot, and I was crippled for 3 months. The main ingredient for a tetanus shot was from a horse serum.
If it's not hair loss, or headache, it's cancer. Google hair dye & cancer.
The fruits are now sprayed with all kinds of toxics, and they are supposed to be safe for us, but now they're NOT so safe.
Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.
The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'.
Best advice I can give you: if you're not sure DON'T.

Source(s): I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's.
