What is a dumb question?
this question is for all the people who ask them.
Maybe they will read the answers and figure out how to ask a question.
My vote is:
a question that wants for a very specific "that will fix it" answer by giving VERY general details - like
"My computer won't turn on. What is wrong with it?"
one answer should be - the proper way to ask this question to get a "fix it" answer.

there are dumb questions - the statement assumes there is enough info in the question to give an answer. The first responder defined insanity. - more ideas please.

A dumb question is someone asking the question assumes we know their system inside and out, know what software they are using. In other words, we can read their minds and see through their eyes no whats going on. Drives me insane!!
