  • whirlpool electric dryer requires 2 cycles to dry?

automatic energy efficient cycle does not dry. Must run 2 times. Model WED5100SQ0

The way it is suppose to work (i think) is that the dryer runs but the timer is off until the vent temp reaches a certain point. This indicates the moisture content is low. Then the timer turns on to finish the cycle. I think my timer is running from the getgo so when it stops the clothes r still wet.

The vent it STRAIGHT thru the wall about 1' long and wide open.

what part do i need to replace?

  • all about USB3 power on a USB2 device?

I have been searching diligently an have not found the answer.

    Will a USB3 port supply USB3 power to a USB2 device.

Obviously, it doesn't matter if the cable is USB3 or USB2 since the device will only connect to the USB2 pins. Also obviously the USB2 device won't operate at USB3 speed.

I just want to know if the power supplied on the USB2 pins via a USB3 port is to the USB3 spec.?

or... if I plug a USB3 device in with a USB2 cable will it be provided with USB3 power -- since it is only connecting to the USB2 power pin?????????

Apparently, a USB3 device connects to both the USB2 and USB3 power pins.

I can't believe I can't find this answer. And please refer me to something I can read on this - I don't want opinions - just the facts.

    thx

  • non-overlapping wifi channels?

RE WiFi channels, I understand that CH1, 6, &11 do not overlap, BUT can someone explain why ch1, 6, &11 are considered NON-OVERLAPPING and ch2, 7, &12 or ch3, 8, &13 are not. Technically, they do not overlap each other either. Also when speaking about non-overlapping why are just those channels considered when they DO overlap all the rest 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 ,10, 12, &13?

Is there some kind of unwritten rule that no one will use anything but 1, 6, &11 and that ppl using the same channel will be more than 330' apart?

  • What is a dumb question?

this question is for all the people who ask them.

Maybe they will read the answers and figure out how to ask a question.

    My vote is:

a question that wants for a very specific "that will fix it" answer by giving VERY general details - like

"My computer won't turn on. What is wrong with it?"

one answer should be - the proper way to ask this question to get a "fix it" answer.

    your vote please............

  • Life after VPN setup?

I have set up a VPN connection and it is connecting to the server.

    Now what do I do????????????

The connection detail indicates an external IP address for the server and client (begins 65.40.xxx.xxx). It matches the static IP of the server except for the last group. The client gets a different one every time I connect. I thought this was suppose to show internal IPs like 192.168.xxx.xxx. The actual server address is 192.168.1.3.

Once connected I cannot access anything using RUN UNC where UNC is either the server name or any of the addresses shown (external or internal). It comes back saying it can't find it.

I set both computers to the same workgroup. The only thing I haven't done is to create an actual USER on the server to match the one I added during the VPN setup. Nothing says I have to do that, BUT............

Where have I missed the boat?

  • How to eliminate static at desk?

I generate a lot of static sitting at my desk and rolling around on the plastic chair pad such that when I plug in a USB device/cable/whatever and touch the to shields I get a discharge and the computer come to a screeching halt. Everything is grounded to the AC house power ground, but I guess the EMI generated shuts it down. How do I prevent this short of attaching myself to the computer - which my wife says I already am.

  • When is a cup of coffee not a cup - or why is cup size different?

correct this please - a cup size is defined as 8oz, unless u are talking about coffee makers.

Then a cup can be 4oz to 8oz. Why is it different? I may have the answer. It depends on how fast the maker brews the coffee. If it is fast, the size is low. If it is slow the size is high. It is designed to yield the same strength coffee since the measuring spoons are all the same size.

What that means is that u are wasting coffee with an inefficient maker if the cup size is small.

I realized this when I forgot to place the lid on my carafe and made a big mess. The water stayed in the grounds longer (till I realized it and fixed it to drain). The coffee was very strong.

Just another example of the waste that goes on because we are all in a hurry. Just think how much u could save if u brewed ur coffee to go twice as far.

  • small bridge building with utility poles?

I need to build a bridge across a 20' wide stream.

My idea is to use 30' utility poles, 2+2 where vehicle tires would be, and rough saw 2x? decking.

It is for a driveway so it must support things like the oil delivery truck and (God forbid) fire trucks.

I have available 6 slightly used poles. There will be no support in the center, just the 5' on each side of the stream and the 20' span.

I need some data as to what these poles are capable of supporting with that kind of load.

  • Problem with oil fired furnace?

Everything works fine until there is a power failure. Then the high temp thermal cutout trips and must be reset. Not a big problem IF I lived there, but it is a vacation home in the mts.

I understand why it is doing it, the question is - Is there a way to fix it so that doesn't happen - maybe a self-resetting thermal cutout???

  • choosing alternate auto tire size?

I need to buy a set of tires for a 2007 Prius

    the originals are GY Integrity

the options are about 6 lbs heavier and 195 vs 185 width.

If I go to a 60 instead of a 65 the turns/mile will be closer to original.

What effect will the increased weight have?

What effect will the decreased height have?

4 wires into motor - 2 for cap, 2 for power.

there is also one tap to power 2 12volt bulbs.

  • difference between Rockwell hardness C63 and C67?

M35 & M42 Cobalt drills are specified at HC65-67 hardness and M1, 2, 7, 50 general purpose drills are specified as HC 63-65. The first question is - percentage wise what does that difference represent?

Ultimately, what difference does it make in the life of a drill or the ability to drill into something hard like stainless steel?

What does the extra 3% cobalt in M42 drills over M35 drills buy operation / life wise?

  • Honda Man or others >>> Odyssey 1491 code is back?

I verified a bad EGR valve and replaced it. (find old post in July for details). Everything was fine and was back to normal.

Now after about 1500 miles the 1491 code is back.

I have verified everything in the manual RE the valve and the valve appears OK.

sensor resistance OK; Stalls when batt volt applied; 5v on sensor from PCM; 6-7 volts on coil leads from PCM; ground on pin 6 thru PCM; the only thing not verified it the connection to pin 1 of the connector.

There are no other codes as there was last time (misfire and power train codes). And it doesn't go away as it did last time when I run a constant 60mph for an hour or so. It also does not set as fast as it did the last time. It took almost 100 miles to set a temp code and another100+ miles to set it permanent (at 60mph).

The engine does not run rough like it did the last time.

Without subbing the PCM is there anyway to test it?

    Any other hints?

    thanks for your help
