What creature did this?
I'm re-asking this question more clearly: I have a small but noticeable and very neat pile of what seems to be wall board dust under my base board in my kitchen. It's about a quarter inch high, and over and inch wide. (Old house, uneven floors; that's why there's space under the baseboard.)
I've seen a couple of roaches and mice this summer, but never seen them do this. What the heck could it be living in my wall? It's as neat as an ant hill. Thanks.
Oh, also, this is NOT an external wall. And we are on the top floor of a house in Brooklyn, NY.
Could be the mouse? For real? I wish you'd say more....
Lar, it does not look like any of those powder post beetle frass photos. It is a super neat pile of pure white slightly granular powder. It's got to be the wall board, no? But what's digging it out????

Look for carpenter ants, or termites. Depending on the area you live in.
Would recommend contacting a locale exterminator for insects. Also advise the contractor if you have animals some of the sprays and chemicals they use are very poisonous.
