Why every one want to become top contributor in yahoo answer?

It is an interest. it is a human nature. The yahoo says this on top contributor. ''A Top Contributor is a member of the Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a particular category. Each Answers user can be a top contributor in up to three categories.

The top contributor badge is dynamic —you earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a particular category. The more actively you contribute, the more likely you will earn a badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to feature community members who might otherwise be overlooked.

The TC badge is awarded on the number of questions answered and best answers received by the user in a particular week, in a particular category.

It is understood at least a 10 percent best answers in your chosen category to get a TC badge although the actual percentage and the number of answers is Yahoo's secret. A user who is on the leader board may or may not have a TC badge, the criteria is measured on weekly participation in a particular category (number of answers and % of best answers in the category).

The easiest way to get a TC badge is to concentrate on one category where many questions are asked and hope to get some best answers. Maximum 3 categories will be awarded.

If you have contributed enough to meet Yahoo's criteria, the orange badge will appear below your avatar on Monday morning.

It can disappear just as easily if you don't keep answering questions in your chosen category.

All members think it is a proud to be a top contributor. it is natural. The yahoo will never take the past contributions and only the current contributions in a particular category. i failed to meet the yahoo's requirements last week, i lost the title this week. i can gain if my answers got best answers in this week.

Everyone want because they want a certificate for their hard works.

There is a misconception about the badge and those that believe it make someone an expert as some like to boast or that they give better answers want one too, it is just an orange badge that means you Contributed enough in a category to get one.

The badge is based on total Contribution in a category not best answers, best answers just help meet the requirements.

Only Yahoo knows what the exact formula is for getting the badge.

It is Top Contributor not Best Answerer

while TC badges do sometimes get cheated, an honestly gained one is indeed something to be proud of. It is a recognition that you have made frequent contributions to a particular section or category.

You need to contribute enough in the same section over a three week period. Without giving away too many secrets, the calculation includes points earned (so getting Best Answers is an advantageus factor) but also looks at total activity in the section. In small isolated sections a TC badge is much easier to get (but worth less, as there was less competition for it).

Top Contributor badge is given for regularity of participation to a certain extent. This is to inspire answerers to remain attached to Y!A which Yahoo is doing for their own interest. I hate this system of TC Badge which differentiates between the answerers. Many good answerers are answering only challenging questions and hence have no TC Badge, but are much better in their answers.

Should a teacher give less marks to a brilliant student just because he already has the highest marks in the class ? Should a cricket umpire give a batsman out lbw against a false appeal considering that having scored a century, he has enough runs ?

In math and science category, BA is the correct and simplest answer and is easy to decide. But in the type of questions you ask, BA is not the one liked by most readers, but one that satisfies the asker and asker's prerogative has got to be respected.

I even don't know who or what is this.There are far better things to be achieved in life. I am more interested in knowing more about others & bringing them near by sharing my mind & heart with then & expect the same from them.That is the real contribution I can make.

If it all depends on the percentage of best answers, what if some body answers one question & gets best answer for it. Then he stops answering he would always remain 100% ha ha How easy!

I want to get best answer but not top contributor

I am content to answer questions, I have seen some become paranoid in keeping top contributor status. Not a good thing for a Christian to cling to.

Actually, it's increasing percentage of "best" answers that does it and only in one category. As for me, I could do without the badge and the assumptions people have about it all.

It is another illusion and addiction. I also fallen prey to such addiction by answering in particular category.
