700r4 problems. best answer will be chosen?
I have a 26 year old 700r4 that is 100% original. I was driving in drive for the first time in a while and it doesn't want to go above 60. the whole truck begins to vibrate violently. It seems as though it's slipping. I installed an edelbrock carburetor and never hooked up the tv cable. I just put the old carb back on and it's correct now but still does it. the engine is a 305/700r4 with 2.73 rear end
Would have lasted longer if i hadn't happened to it.
also can i replace the clutches without dissembling the pan?

You burned a clutch out of it, It didn't know how much throttle angle it had to deal with.
26 years, That must be a record, Even the 4l60 or 4l60e weren't very good.

sounds like the clutches are bad. it might not help but change the transmission fluid and filter. if the filter is almost clogged up then the pump will have a hard time pumping the fluid. also it could be the torque converter.
